Adding a New Hazard Classification

Note: This feature is available only to administrators.

Add a new hazard classification when the existing classifications do not cover all hazards and safety information you want to classify/label for your products. When creating a new classification, you define the overall classification and then add the individual items that can be assigned to products.

After the new hazard classification is complete, you can assign one or more of its items to any product while editing the product's hazard classifications.

To add a new hazard classification:

Starting at the Hazard Classifications page (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. In the box on the left, click New Classification.

A Classification Properties display opens, showing fields for the new classification's properties.

  2. Enter the new classification's identifying properties:

  3. Select the component(s) each item in this classification will have:

  4. Click Save in the lower right.

The new hazard classification is saved (though it contains no items yet). A Classification List Items option appears at the top of the display.

  5. Click the Classification List Items option at the top of the display.

A display shows the new classification's currently empty list of items, with one column for each item component you selected at step 3.

  6. Click Create a new classification item in the upper right.

One or more fields appear, each corresponding to an item component you selected at step 3: Code, Short Description, Long Description, and/or Icon Filename.

  7. In the displayed field(s), enter data appropriate to this classification item.

Note: When entering an Icon Filename, enter a path to a file on your DolphinRTK Application Server. File paths within your local workstation will not be recognized.

  8. Click Save in the lower right.

The new item is saved and added to your classification's list of items, each component in its corresponding column.

  9. Repeat steps 6-8 until all desired items are added.

The item list now includes all items, but may not show them in the desired order.

  10. To move an item, click it in the list, click its Move Item button, and then click the spot in the item list where you want to move it.

The item is moved to the chosen spot in the list. Repeat this step until the items are listed in the desired order.

The new classification is now complete. You can assign its items to a product when editing the product's hazard classifications.
